Teenager arrested after toddler injured in hit-and-run

A teenager has been arrested after a toddler was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run collision in Cork City.

The juvenile has been detained at Cork Garda station.

The incident, shortly before 4pm on Monday, left a three-year-old boy seriously injured.

Gardai discovered the vehicle, a blue saloon car, about one kilometre from the scene in Castle Meadows off Skehard Road in Cork City.

The driver of the car failed to stop after hitting the boy.

He is critically ill but stable at Temple Street Children’s University Hospital in Dublin.

Gardai appealed for anyone with information to contact them at Anglesea Street garda station or call the garda confidential line.
