State agrees ?200,000 pay-out over Brian Rossiter death
The parents of Brian Rossiter have settled their action at the High Court against the State for ?200,000.
They went to the High Court today seeking damages following the death of the 14-year-old, who was found unconscious in garda custody in 2002.
He was being held on suspicion of having committed a public order offence.
He died two days afterwards in hospital.
Last week, a jury at the Cork City Coroners Court returned an open verdict in the case.
Mr Justice Richard Johnson today approved the settlement.
