Residents evacuated as grenade discovered in Dublin
RESIDENTS in the Clontarf area of Dublin were evacuated this afternoon following the discovery of a grenade.
Gardai and the Army Bomb Disposal Team were called out to the scene after a local alerted gardai.
The Civil War-era device was found while works were being carried out near Dunluce Road.
The bomb squad arrived at the scene at 2.35pm, set up a cordon and evacuated nearby buildings as the device was made safe.
"Should members of the public encounter suspicious items, or hazardous substances, they are advised to maintain a safe distance and inform An Garda Síochána," a spokesperson for the Defence Forces said.
