Man in his 70s dies after cars collide in Tramore

The driver of the second car suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A man in his 70s has died after a car accident in Tramore, Co Waterford.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after his car was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

His body was taken to the mortuary at Waterford University Hospital where a post-mortem is expected to take place.

The driver of the second car, a man in his 20s, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was airlifted to Cork University Hospital.

The passenger in his car was uninjured.

Gardai rushed to the scene on the N25 near Carrolls Crossing at around 3.30pm on Tuesday.

A technical and forensic examination was carried out and the road was closed, with diversions in place.
