A man has died after a collision between a truck and two cars in Co Mayo.

Gardai said the crash happened at Carracanada in Swinford at about 12.15pm on Friday.

The dead man, aged 64, was the driver of one of the cars. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar where a post-mortem examination was due to be conducted.

The driver of the other car, a man, received minor injuries.

The road was closed for a time to allow Garda forensic collision investigators to carry out an examination, but it has since reopened.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact Swinford garda station or the Garda confidential line.
