Man arrested over 'violent' death of young boy (11) in Limerick

A MAN is being questioned over the violent death of an 11-year-old boy in Limerick.

The body of the child was discovered at a house in the Ballynanty area this evening.

The young boy was discovered with a number of injuries and it’s believed he died violently.

Following the discovery a 27-year-old man was arrested by detectives and is currently being questioned over the death.

He is currently being held at Henry Street garda station.

A forensic examination of the house is being carried out and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.

Gardai called to the scene shortly after 7pm where they found the body of the young boy.

He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

A garda spokesman said they are investigating all the circumstances of his death.
