Gardai conduct searches in Limerick murder probe

Up to 40 Gardai are conducting searches in Limerick city today as part of the investigation into the brutal murder of 19-year-old Jeffrey Hannan last week.

The father-of-one's body was found on wasteground in the city last Thursday.

Gardai believe he died from head trauma caused by blows from a sharp, blunt instrument.

Today's operation has been underway since 8am, with houses in O'Malley Park in Southhill and Clonlong being searched.

The searches are expected to continue for the afternoon and Gardai say they are also seeking items in connection with other serious criminal activity.
