Garda manhunt underway following cash-in-transit robbery in west Dublin

A GARDA manhunt is underway following a cash-in-transit robbery in west Dublin this afternoon.

The cash van was targeted at around 2.30pm in the Fonthill Road area of Clondalkin and gardai immediately responded to the scene.

A man, armed with a bat, threatened a security worker with the weapon before fleeing the scene with a cash box.

The suspect escaped in a jeep which drove off in the direction of Lucan.

The male security worker was not injured during the robbery, and gardai at Ronanstown are investigating the incident.

No arrests have yet been made as part of the incident and searches are ongoing.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí are investigating a Cash in Transit robbery that occurred on the Fonthill Road, Clondalkin, today Thursday 18th July 2019 at approximately 2:30pm.

“A cash box was taken from a male worker by a man armed with a bat. He left the scene in a jeep which went in the direction of Lucan. No injuries have been reported.

“No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.”
