Gardai sealed off a large section of Cushlawn Park in Tallaght in the early hours of this morning after a shooting at a house.

When they arrived to investigate they found a trail of blood leading from the scene through the estate to the edge of a local park.

At the early stages of the investigation it was difficult to establish the circumstances of the shooting or who was injured.

Large sections of the streets in Cushlawn Park were sectioned off with garda tape which followed the blood trail.

More than 70 blue latex gloves along the route marked a point where a bloodstain was found on the ground.

The incident happened at around 2am this morning when a lone male approached a house in the estate and fired two shots with a gun.

Members of the garda technical bureau were working at the scene this morning, both at the site of the shooting and along the blood trail.

They collected evidence in neighbour's numerous bags and photographed the scene.
