Five people taken to hospital after serious crash

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision in Ballinabranagh, Co Carlow on Wednesday to contact them.

Five people have been injured after a serious road crash in Co Carlow.

Gardai said the incident happened at Clogrennane, Ballinabranagh at about 11:50am on Wednesday.

Only one vehicle was involved in the crash.

Five occupants of a car, a man in his 20s and four teenage girls, were taken to Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise and St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny.

Two of the injuries have been described as serious.

A technical and forensic examination of the scene has been arranged.

The road has been closed and diversions are in place.

Gardai are appealing to witnesses travelling on the Ballinabranagh Road between 11.40am and 12.15pm on Wednesday to contact Carlow Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line.
