One person has been killed and nine were wounded in two blasts at Indian railway stations

Two explosions on a train have killed one woman in an Indian railway station and wounded another nine people, including two seriously.

A spokesman for India's southern railway system said that authorities suspect the blasts were caused by bombs planted on the train. Police are investigating.

The spokesman said at least one of the blasts erupted from underneath a seat on the Bangalore-Guwahati Express after it had pulled into the station in the south-coast city of Chennai this morning.

The woman killed had been sitting in the seat where the explosion occurred.

He said two of the injured are being treated in hospital for serious injuries.
