A Briton whose wife died falling from a balcony on their Dubai honeymoon has been fined for allegedly being drunk when he went to police in the Gulf state.
The Dubai court said former professional motorcycle racer Sean Emmett, 43, arrived drunk to sign police paperwork to release the body of his wife Abbie, 27.
Police claim Emmett arrived intoxicated at the police station in late February.
Mrs Emmett died the previous week in an apparently accidental fall from a Dubai high-rise hotel. Emmett left Dubai last month.
The fine of around £300 for drinking alcohol without a licence was imposed in his absence.
Alcohol is widely available in Dubai resorts and hotels, but a local permit is required for drinking in homes and other places - although the rule is often ignored.
