The frightening incident was caught on the family's home surveillance camera, and shows the moment when the suspect forces his way through the front door to attack the 13-year-old girl.

Officers in San Jose, the state’s third largest city, said the young student was first approached by the man on the front porch of her home.

Claiming he was lost, the suspect stuck up a conversion with the teen before he began asking her "a series of inappropriate questions".

“The guy starts a conversation with her and when she opens up the door, the suspect pushes her in, tries to sexually assault her,” said San Jose police Sergeant Enrique Garcia.

“The little girl is brave, she fights back, and the guy leaves on foot."

"He's not concerned about being caught, since he's doing this in broad daylight."

Following the attack, the girl hid in a closet and texted her father: "DADDY COME HOME NOW. SOME GUY TRIED TO RAPE ME."

Speaking about the incident, the terrified teen said she had tried to lock the door after she fled inside but that the man forced his way through.

"I tried to slam the door on him but I couldn't, so he got inside," she said.

“He walked a few steps towards me and I thought he was going to grab me again… but he just turns around, looks out the door, and just walks away."

Last month, the same suspect is believed to have followed a 28-year-old woman into a public restroom and attempted to sexually assault her.

Police released surveillance photos of the man from both locations.

He is described as a white man about 30 years old with a medium height, a thin build and a beard.
