US sect leader Jeffs in hospital
US polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs, who is serving a life sentence in prison, is in hospital with a non-life threatening condition.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said Jeffs is in a stable condition at a hospital in Galveston after being admitted on March 11.
A department spokesman declined to say why the 58-year-old was in hospital or release any additional details.
Jeffs is the ecclesiastical head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He was convicted in August 2011 and sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting two of his child brides. Prosecutors said Jeffs had two dozen under age wives in total.
