The meeting today of the African leaders with the Security Council marks the culmination of a month-long effort by the US to focus on problems facing Africa and how the world can help.
But it also comes at a time when the 15-member council is weighing whether to send a peacekeeping force into Congo, a move that many say is being blocked by Washington.
