United Continental Holdings has alerted pilots that access codes to cockpit doors were accidentally posted on a public website according to the Wall Street Journal.

The codes are reported to have been uploaded by a flight attendant.

The company which owns United Airlines and United Express, asked pilots to follow security procedures including confirming someone's identity before opening the door.

It is the latest incident to hit embattled airline United, which garnered international headlines when Dr David Dao was forcefully removed by staff and injured in the process.

He has since received a settlement for an undisclosed sum from the airline.

The Air Line Pilots Association confirmed to the newspaper that the problem has been fixed.
