Two Palestinians shot dead in West Bank clashes
A 17-year-old Palestinian has been shot dead near the West Bank city of Hebron after trying to stab an Israeli soldier, the military said.
Officials said the teenager had a knife in his hand when he approached a soldier securing a junction and tried to attack him.
Elsewhere in the West Bank, a 21-year-old was shot dead after hurling stones at Israeli troops near the village of Beit Jala, just outside Bethlehem, Palestinian health officials said.
The last three and a half months have seen near-daily Palestinian attacks on Israeli civilians and soldiers that have killed 24 people. At least 140 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire in the same time. About two-thirds of them are said by Israel to have been attackers, while the others were killed in clashes with troops.
Israel says the bloodshed is fuelled by a Palestinian campaign of incitement. Palestinians say it stems from frustration at decades of occupation.
