A man who was live tweeting from a burning building escaped safely with his family, while two neighbours have been left critically injured.
Mickey Atwal, an Englishman based in New York City, hit headlines earlier today when he began posting images of smoke billowing from a burning building and accompanying text.
And while firefighters have safely put out of the flames, two individuals are being treated for critical, but still unknown, injuries at two different hospitals.
"Firemen here in our hallway. Telling us to stay put. Looks like fire started a few floors below. Family safe and in good spirits," Mr Atwal told his Twitter followers earlier.
"One stairwell now safe to walk down. Thanks for all your support."
Residents were evacuated from The Strand building when rescue services arrived shortly after 12 noon (5pm Irish time).
