Patrick Gannon said he read the Transportation Security Administration report and airport law enforcement officials agreed with the recommendations, which include posting armed police at security checkpoints and ticket counters during peak hours.

The airport changed its policy months before the shooting on November 1, allowing officers to roam terminals instead of remaining at checkpoints. Mr Gannon has said he did not want to revisit stationing officers at checkpoints because it was important to be flexible.

A gunman targeting TSA officers killed one and wounded three other people in the shooting.

The 25-page report to Congress, which was obtained by The Associated Press, makes 14 recommendations after a review of security at nearly 450 airports throughout the US.
