A Syrian student has become the first refugee to be crowned queen of one of Germany's wine-making regions.
Ninorta Banho, 26, was crowned "wine queen" by a group of vintners in Trier, an ancient town near Germany's western border with Luxembourg.
The Syriac Christian, who fled the war in Syria three-and-a-half years ago, will spend the next year representing the winemakers of Trier-Olewig at dozens of events in the Moselle region.
