A stag prankster sparked a terror alert at Glasgow airport by planting a fake bomb in the groom’s suitcase.

The practical joker was arrested moments after an x-ray machine picked up the ‘crude device’ and he was forced to come clear after police and security staff began to lock down the immediate area.

The 26-year-old is now facing court action over the prank, and is expected to appear before the Paisley Sheriff Court next month

According to the Scottish Sun, panic quickly spread through passengers at the airport when the baggage x-ray machine picked up the fake bomb.

it soon emerged however that the device was a hoax, and had been planted in the groom’s bag by one of the stag party.

The man was lead away by police soon afterwards, the Daily Record reported.

A source said: “It may not have been a real bomb but in the current climate it was a very stupid thing to do.

“The security staff and police take a dim view of this.”

It is understood that the group was heading to Berlin on an EasyJet flight.

Glasgow Airport said: “We can confirm an incident at the baggage screening area which resulted in police being called.”
