An American man is claiming cannabis as the main sacrament of his religion, saying a drug charge violates his constitutional rights.
Trevor Douglas, from Colorado, says he belongs to the Hawaii-based THC Ministry but was charged with marijuana possession after police searched him. He said the use of the drug was sacred to him, just as wine and bread were to Christians.
A weapon of miss destruction
A test rocket fired by Indonesia's state-run weapons manufacturer crashed into a farm and seriously wounded the owners.
The government said the 9ft rocket missed its target because of high winds and the couple were hit by shrapnel.
Crocodile bashed in row over shark
A group of Australian friends on an annual fishing holiday fought a marauding crocodile for their prize catch.
After landing a shark near the New South Wales town of Inverell, a 2-metre crocodile emerged from the water and ran up the beach to the flailing catch. But one of the friends banged a hooked pole on its head, causing the crocodile to turn tail and scramble back into the water.
Evil eye gets the president's goat
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has a black goat slaughtered at his house almost every day to ward off "evil eyes" and protect him from "black magic", a newspaper has reported.
A spokesman for the president said told 'The Dawn' newspaper the goats were slaughtered as an act of Sadaqah or 'voluntary charity' in Islam -- whereby one gives out money or the meat of a slaughtered animal to the poor to win Allah's blessing.
Teens face mobile child porn probe
A 14-year-old boy in the US state if Washington was arrested after police said he sent a photo of his naked 13-year-old ex-girlfriend by mobile phone to other students.
Police said the image was forwarded to dozens of students in at least three schools. The student and two other teens may face child pornography charges, and up to a month in detention if convicted.
