Six migrants thought to have been trying to enter Greece from Turkey have been found dead in the sea off the eastern Aegean island of Lesbos.

A pregnant woman was rescued from the water, the Greek coastguard said.

Five bodies were recovered by the European border patrol agency Frontex, while one was found by the coastguard.

The six dead were four women, one man and a boy.

The coastguard rescued a pregnant woman from the water and transported her to Lesbos.

It was unclear how many others might be missing, and searches are ongoing.
