Singer Jones in dehydration scare

Singer Tom Jones was recovering in hospital after he fell ill and was forced to pull out of a concert in Monaco.

Jones (71) was expected to perform at the Salle des Etoiles hall last night but withdrew, suffering from "severe dehydration". He was rushed to hospital and his condition is said to be stable.

Iranian sentenced to death for killing

An Iranian court has sentenced a man to death over the killing of a physicist that authorities blamed on Israel's Mossad spy agency.

Majid Jamali Fashi went on trial on Tuesday accused of killing Masoud Ali Mohammadi with a bomb-rigged motorcycle, co-operating with Mossad.

Man parking mad at police in town

A 29-year-old US man was so upset about the lack of parking enforcement in his town that he parked in a disabled space and called police more than a dozen times before being arrested.

Police in Shelton, Connecticut, say they had to subdue Michael Andes with a stun gun after he became aggressive. He was charged with breach of the peace and was given a parking ticket. He is due in court next month.

Angler fishes out lost artificial limb

A woman who lost her artificial leg while swimming in a Minnesota lake three years ago has been reunited with the limb thanks to an angler.

Beth Krohn was fishing on Lake Ida. She says her line kept snagging on something and it turned out to be the leg belonging to Pam Riley. She returned the leg to Ms Riley after tracking her down through a prosthetic limb manufacturer in Alexandria.

Bog snorkelling record smashed

The world record time for bog snorkelling has been smashed in Wales.

The 26th World Bog Snorkelling Championships saw around 110 competitors take to the "water" at the Waen Rhydd Bog. And last year's record time for swimming two lengths of a 55-metre (180ft) trench was shattered by more than six seconds.

Failed graduate blames 'kidnap'

A Mexican woman was so embarrassed about failing to graduate from college she made up a kidnapping tale to explain to her family why she failed to appear at the graduation ceremony.

Lucina Gayosso (23), of Juarez, even told the false story to police after her family called the authorities.
