All seven people on board a helicopter which crashed on the outskirts of Istanbul have died.

The city's mayor, Kadir Topbas, confirmed the death toll had risen after the incident on Friday morning.

Officials had earlier said five bodies were recovered from the scene of the crash, without providing information on the fate of two others.

Earlier reports said four Russian nationals, a Turkish citizen and two pilots were on board.
