A white supremacist US lawyer has been found stabbed to death in a burning house and a neighbour is being held over his killing.

Local police said Richard Barrett's body was found in his house in Jackson, Mississippi, and Vincent McGee (22) has been charged with his murder.

Sydney woman Sarah May Ward intended to injure Eli Westlake for throwing the snacks at her vehicle, Judge Roderick Howie told the New South Wales Supreme Court, describing the 21-year-old's murder as "a senseless act of anger".

'Holy man' held over sex scandal

Police have arrested a Hindu holy man with thousands of followers across India and abroad after video footage emerged last month allegedly showing him frolicking with two women.

Nithyananda Swami, whose devotees include politicians and movie stars, was arrested in the resort town of Shimla in northern India late on Wednesday, local police said.
