A US man has been jailed for six months for stabbing his ex-girlfriend's parrot to death with a serving fork. Richard Atkinson (63) pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and domestic violence.
His lawyer said Atkinson does not remember what happened, but he may have mixed medication with whiskey.
Gators guarding marijuana plants
Detectives who responded to reports of a shooting at a home in Washington state found a floor-to-ceiling stripper pole, 15 marijuana plants and two angry, five-foot alligators guarding them.
The alligators were kept in a room with the marijuana plants and hissed at detectives who opened the door, a spokesman said.

Slot-machine sling shows new Vegas
Tourists will soon have a new way to see the lights of Las Vegas: by being spit out of an 11-story slot machine and zinged down a five-block zip-wire past some of the city's oldest casinos.
Officials unveiled plans for a permanent zip-wire on the Las Vegas promenade known as the Fremont Street Experience. Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman said the SlotZilla thrill ride was destined to become a city landmark.
'21' singer Adele notches 10 million
Adele's album '21' has sold more than 10 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album reached the milestone last week, less than two years after its release.
It is the 21st album to sell 10 million copies since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking US and Canadian sales in 1991. Adele's studio album debuted in 2011 and featured such hits as 'Rolling in the Deep', 'Someone Like You' and 'Set Fire to the Rain'.

The piano used for the song 'As Time Goes By' in the classic 1942 film 'Casablanca' is to be auctioned in New York with an estimated price of $1.2m (€928,000).
Humphrey Bogart played Rick Blaine in the Oscar-winning love story, opposite Ingrid Bergman's Ilsa Lund. In a famous flashback scene, Rick and Ilsa lean on the piano at a Paris bistro. Sam, played by Dooley Wilson, plays and sings.
