Police name wrong-way crash Briton

Police in Utah have named a British motorcyclist who was killed after riding on the wrong side of the road.

David Morgan, 61, from Cheshire, died in a crash on Wednesday, which happened east of Woodland in Summit County.

Utah Highway Patrol said Mr Morgan and another British tourist were riding their motorcycles on the wrong side of State Route 35 when a pick-up truck approached. US vehicles drive on the right side of the road.

One of the motorcyclists swerved out of the way, but Mr Morgan was was hit and plunged down a 100ft embankment along with the truck. Police said h e died at the scene.

The truck driver was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware of the death of a British national in Utah, USA, on September 24. We are providing consular assistance to the family."
