A woman has been arrested in a Paris suburb for suspected links to an intermediary to the only man charged in connection with the terror attacks in the French capital.

Two officials close to the investigation said the woman, whose name was not revealed, was the partner of the intermediary.

The 25-year-old intermediary was in contact with Jawad Bendaoud, who is charged with providing housing to Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected planner of the November 13 attacks that killed 130 people.

The intermediary was arrested earlier on Tuesday at his home in Malakoff, south of Paris, by counter-terrorism police.

A few hours later police went with the suspect to search another apartment in Saint-Denis - the northern Paris suburb where a police assault killed Abaaoud, his female cousin and a third man on November 18 - and arrested his partner who was there.

The man and his partner have been taken into custody west of Paris.

The man, known by police only for drug trafficking so far, was also in contact with Abaaoud's cousin, Hasna Aitboulahcen.
