Pakistan motorbike gunmen kill six

Gunmen on motorcycles have shot dead six miners on their way home from work in Pakistan.

Gunmen on motorcycles have attacked a truck carrying mineworkers from a Shiite Hazara community in southwest Pakistan killing six workers and injuring the driver.

Officials said the gunmen attacked the coal miners as they were on their way to residential camp after work in the Machh district of Baluchistan. .

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. An al Qaida-linked militant group known as Lashker-e-Jhangvi has claimed past attacks on the Shiite Hazara community.

A low-level insurgency has been going on in Baluchistan over the last decade. Baluch nationalist groups demand autonomy and a greater share in province's gas and mineral resources. Islamic militants are also active there.
