BOYS at a Salvation Army children's home in Sydney were "rented out" to paedophiles at night, an Australian commission into child sexual abuse has heard.

One boy was allegedly sent by Captain Lawrence Wilson, to the home of a husband and wife dressed in Salvation Army uniforms, who sexually abused him. The boy later told Capt Wilson what had happened. But he was told that the couple were "good" and was caned 18 times.

"One day you are a boy, the next you are a shell walking around," the victim said.

The accounts were given at a commission, which is investigating sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, orphana-ges, schools, community groups and other institutions. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
