Thinking of moving to the States? The happiest place in America has been revealed.
Utah is home to the happiest Americans, an in-depth survey has revealed.
Analysts compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 28 key metrics, including emotional health, income level and sports participation rate.
And, because of their low rates of divorce (15.9pc) and heart attacks (2.7pc) and their high rate of volunteerism (45.2pc), Utah has been declared the happiest.
Minnesota came in second and North Dakota came in third, while Hawaii and Colorado made up the top five.
Also featured in the WalletHub study's top ten were Idaho, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and sunny California.
Well-known for its Irish population, Massachusetts hit the board in sixteenth place.
Hawaii was noted for its lowest depression rate (10.7pc), which is 2.2 times lower than in Oregon, where the rate is highest at 24pc./
The District of Columbia has the lowest number of suicides per 100,000 residents, 7.8, which is 3.1 times lower than in Montana, where the number is highest, 23.9.
