Teacher who admitted to ‘long-term sexual relationship’ with student (14) sentenced to prison
Teacher described her actions as 'inexcusable'
A former teacher who admitted to having a long-term sexual relationship with her 14-year-old student was sentenced to up to 20 years in prison on Thursday.
Jamee Hiatt (32) will now be permanently on the sex offenders list after having a relationship with her student for almost two years.
According to the New York Daily News, Hiatt described her actions as “inexcusable” and said she “became out of control”.
The teacher, who taught in a Michigan school in America, was arrested a day before she resigned from her job at the school.
She allegedly offered the boy a mobile phone, money and guardianship to continue the relationship.
Authorities in Michigan also reported that she gave the student a gun that was linked to a shooting in Jackson.
A detective had testified in court before that Hiatt had sex with the teen “so many times” he lost track.
