Stepfather charged with attempted murder after ‘dumping infant in bin’
The stepfather of a baby girl has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and child abuse after allegedly dumping an infant in the bin.
Marquis Jamall Young (27) was charged after the nine-month old was found earlier this month in a bin at an apartment complex in Lawrence, Kansas in the United States.
The infant was treated at a Kansas City-area hospital and was released about two weeks later.
Police spokeswoman, Sgt. Amy Rhoads, said the girl is in the state’s custody and will continue to receive outpatient treatment for her injuries
Police say Marquis Jamall Young of Lawrence, is currently in custody in Johnson County on unrelated charges. He will be brought to Douglas County to face charges of attempted first degree murder and child abuse.
