WATCH: US government official Wilbur Ross spotted napping during Donald Trump speech

Wilbur Ross, the US Secretary of Commerce, was part of the government delegation during President Donald Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia at the weekend.

During Trump's speech on Sunday, in which he called on Middle Eastern leaders to combat a "crisis of Islamic extremism" emanating from the region, video footage appeared to show Mr Ross having 40 winks.

Mr Ross, who turns 80 later this year, was seen on rather more energetic form elsewhere on the trip, talking part in a  traditional sword dance, which can be viewed below.

Mr Trump's 36-minute speech, which we're sure Mr Ross caught up with later, was the centerpiece of  a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, his first stop overseas as president.

During a meeting of more than 50 Arab and Muslim leaders, he sought to chart a new course for America's role in the region, one aimed squarely on rooting out terrorism, with less focus on promoting human rights and democratic reforms.
