Bookies have installed embattled Garda Commissioner Noirin O'Sullivan at odds of 500-1 to become the next director of the FBI.

Also available at similar odds is the fictional policeman from The Simpsons TV series, Chief Wiggum.

The bookies have put in acting director Andrew McCabe to replace the sacked James Comey at 3-1 favourite.

Paddy Power think White House chief strategist Steve Bannon could be next for the chop in the Trump administration at 13-8 with press secretary Sean Spicer available at 5-2 and presidential "mouthpiece" Kellyanne Conway at 6-1.

Punters, meanwhile, continue to wager that Donald Trump will not complete his first term in office at 4-6 and the US president is 10-11 to be impeached.

The firm's spokesman, Paddy Power said today: "So, Donald Trump sacks the man leading an investigation into him - man, we gave the system a kick.

"I think he'll put Ivanka in charge of the FBI. Then we can refer to it as daughter-gate."
