The couple were doing their shopping when they heard the young girl cry: "please stop. I promise I won't do it again. Please stop!" as her father was allegedly dragging her by the hair, according to a report in the New York Daily News.

Ms Burch confronted the father but was reportedly told to mind her own business after he responded “I grew up just fine”

In a lengthy post to Facebook, Ms Burch revealed that she rang the police. The sergeant who arrived at the scene allegedly told Ms Burch that the father “had the right to discipline his children”.

“People are telling me I'm wrong for stepping up for this little girl, but you can discipline a child without dragging them by the hair on their head, especially in Walmart,” Erika Burch told KTRK.
