Obamas both signed up for 'multi-million' book deals
Former US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have both landed multi-million dollar book deals.
The former president and first lady have signed with Penguin Random House, the publisher announced yesterday.
While the financial terms have not been officially disclosed, published reports have put the dollar figure Penguin Random House paid at anywhere from $30m (€28.4m) to $65m (€61.6m) for both books.
Mr Obama's book is expected to be a behind-the-scenes account of his eight years in the White House.
Mrs Obama's planned book has been described as "an inspirational work for young people that will draw upon her life story".
"We are absolutely thrilled to continue our publishing partnership with president and Mrs Obama," Penguin Random House CEO Markus Dohle said in a statement.
"With their words and their leadership, they changed the world, and every day, with the books we publish at Penguin Random House, we strive to do the same."
There were also reports last night that, after writing his memoir, Mr Obama is planning a return to frontline politics with the Democratic party, after leaving the White House in January.
