Husband of real-life 'Fault In Our Stars' couple dies aged 25
The young man who was the inspiration for the book and film 'The Fault In Our Stars' has passed away.
Dalton Prager (25) died on Saturday afternoon at a hospital in St Louis, Missouri due to complications from a failed lung transplant.
Prager was the inspiration for the book, written by John Greene, about a young man's romance with a young woman who suffered from cystic fibrosis while he himself battled several illnesses.
He was portrayed by actor Ansel Elgort in the film which hit cinemas in 2014.
Prager's wife Debra Donovan posted the news in a heartfelt tribute on Facebook writing; "“My angel, my best friend, the love of my life, my husband went to be with the Lord our God today.
"He was a courageous fighter and ‘give up’ wasn’t in his vocabulary."
The couple were unable to be together for his final moments and so FaceTimed each other in the last few minutes, Donovan's mother told CNN.
They had intended to spend one last Christmas together, but were being treated for their conditions in two different states.
Donovan recently told CNN in an interview; ""I'd rather have five years of being in love and just really completely happy than 20 years of not having anybody."
