Girl (8) suspected of killing boy (1) to stop him crying after they were left alone at day care
An eight-year-old girl is the main suspect after a toddler was found dead at a day care facility.
It's believed the young girl killed the one-year-old boy after she tried to stop him from crying when they were left alone at the center in Muskegon, Michigan.
Muskegon Police Chief Jeffrey Lewis said the case is "one of the saddest I've ever seen".
Korey Brown (1) was found dead on Friday morning after his mum Bryanna Reasonover had dropped him off at day care.
There were adults in the day care centre but it's believed it was not supervised for some unknown period of time.
"I have all indications that they were in the house, they could have been on another floor, they could have been resting," Mr Lewis told WZZM 13.
"I do not know what they were doing, but I do know they were not in this area or this would not have occurred."
It's suspected the eight-year-old tried to comfort Korey when something happened.
The only witness was another five-year-old girl.
An autopsy is needed to determine what caused Brown's death.
Korey's mother, Bryanna Reasonover, previously told WZZM 13 she noticed bites and bruises on his face.
"My kids just started going there three weeks ago," Reasonover said.
An investigation is ongoing into where the adults were in the home and how long the child was unsupervised. There were several children at Keysha Keepers Daycare that night.
