First granddaughter Arabella (5) sings Chinese new year song in Mandarin

US President Donald Trump's granddaughter has wished the Chinese a Happy New Year by singing a song in Mandarin.

First granddaughter, Arabella (5) sang the Chinese New Year song while playing with a red dragon puppet on strings.

"Arabella singing a song she learned for #ChineseNewYear. Wishing everyone an amazing year to come during these days of celebration. 新年快乐!" Ivanka Trump wrote on Instagram.

Earlier this week the first daughter brought Arabella along to the Chinese embassy in Washington for a Lunar New Year party.

Relations between US President Donald Trump and China have been tense since he started his election campaign.

In his campaign pledge under trade he labelled China "a currency manipulator".
