Suicide bomber thwarts police

A SUICIDE bomber sent back to his car to disarm the device by Somali police detonated it instead and killed four people.

The would-be bomber was intercepted hours before the blast in Mogadishu. But police returned him to his vehicle under orders that he disarm the explosives. Instead, he was able to trigger the bomb.

A MAN selling wine and schnapps with pictures of Adolf Hitler on the labels may be prosecuted for breaking an Austrian law prohibiting displays glorifying the Nazi era.

Star's grandson dies by suicide

A GRANDSON of the late screen actress and beauty Rita Hayworth has been found dead in an apparent suicide in New York City.

Police said 25-year-old Andrew Embiricos was discovered in his Manhattan apartment on Sunday night with a bag over his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

'Wild' giraffe saved from pool

FIREFIGHTERS were called to the South African set of ITV1 series 'Wild At Heart' after one of the show's stars -- a pregnant giraffe -- fell into the swimming pool.

Lucy, a nine-year-old giraffe, is thought to have broken into the Leopard's Den set and fallen into the pool after getting thirsty. The fire brigade was called and Lucy walked out of the pool unscathed when a trench was dug and she was offered food.

Killer whales seen off Cornwall coast

KILLER whales have been spotted 100 yards off the coast of Cornwall.

Several people have reportedly seen the whales, a rare sight in the area, off the coast between the popular tourist towns of Newquay and Padstow during the last 10 days. Killer whales (Orcinus Orca) are mainly found around Iceland, Norway and northern Scotland.
