Israel prepares itself for a fresh battle as Facebook march planned
Israel is bracing itself for a fresh confrontation on its borders after a Facebook campaign urging Palestinian refugees to march on Jerusalem today won tens of thousands of supporters.
Activists have urged people to mass on the frontiers after noon prayers as they seek to force the issue of Palestinian refugees back on to the world agenda.
Israel's soldiers have laid new barbed wire along its ceasefire line.
The campaign began with bloodshed last Sunday as 14 refugees and supporters were shot dead while attempting to force their way through border fences from Lebanon and Syria.
In recent days, the military has reportedly been considering laying mines after some 130 protesters cut through the existing fence on Sunday.
