Israel calls off visit from EU minister group
Israel has called off a visit planned for this week by a group of European Union foreign ministers after objecting to the bloc's "gross insensitivity".
The delegation was due to visit to discuss access for aid to Gaza following the clash between the Israeli navy and a flotilla of aid ships.
The snub was described as a rejection of what Israel sees as unmerited intervention in the Middle East peace process.
Israeli officials said the visit was called off on the grounds that the five insisted on arriving on Friday, the eve of the festival of Yom Kippur.
"The whole country is paralysed and the airport is closed," a spokesman said. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
