Hassan family vow to fight on for justice
THE family of murdered Irish aid worker Margaret Hassan said last night that they would continue to fight for justice and for her remains to be returned to them.
They were commenting after Iraq's deputy justice minister confirmed that the convicted mastermind behind Mrs Hassan's killing had escaped from jail.
Ali Lutfi Jassar al-Rawi was sentenced to life in prison a year ago for the 2004 killing but he was facing a retrial which was due to resume yesterday.
Earlier this year court officials conceded that he was missing from his prison cell, but yesterday Iraq's Deputy Justice Minister Busho Ibrahim said he had escaped from jail. .
Last night, one of Mrs Hassan's sisters, Geraldine Riney, said the family was still looking for Margaret's remains to be returned to them.
