At least six dead after bus attack in Israel
At least six people are suspected dead just north of the Israeli resort of Eilat after gunmen fired at a bus travelling near the Egyptian border.
The Israeli bus was attacked on Israel's Highway 12 about 18 miles from Eilat and the attackers are believed to be Egyptian militants, according to local reports.
“'Terrorists fired at a bus on its way to (the city of) Eilat and fired an anti-tank rocket at another vehicle”, the Israeli military said in a statement.
'”At the same time, a military patrol hit an explosive device.'”
Israel Radio has reported that several gunmen in a car ambushed the civilian bus.
Egypt recently stepped up its security efforts in the Sinai desert, which borders Israel and Gaza.
