Connecticut State Police said the US Secret Service contacted them on Saturday after they say Sean Morkys posted on Twitter, "Is someone going to bomb the trump rally or am I going to have to?"

Police said that tweet was followed by another warning a friend to have his family members leave the rally so they would not get hurt.

The Republican presidential hopeful appeared in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on Saturday.

Authorities tracked the tweets to a home in Waterbury where they found Morkys.

After determining he did not pose an immediate threat, he was taken into custody and released on 25,000 dollar (£17,357) bond.
