Justin Bieber's plane held in New Jersey for marijuana search

As soon as Justin Bieber's private jet landed on a runway in New Jersey, authorities held him for questioning - and his plane for a drug search, according to TMZ.

When the teen pop star arrived at Teterboro airport, just outside New York, police were alerted to a strong odour of marijuana coming from his plane.

Justin, accompanied by his father and a number of friends,  were reportedly travelling to the US from Canada for Super Bowl parties.

TMZ sources have said that while authorities continue to hold the plane, no illegal drugs have yet been found.

It is understood that the passengers knew they'd be searched as they were flying into the US from Canada.
