Jellyatrics revive those sweet memories

A NEW line of sweets called Jellyatrics has been launched to commemorate the Jelly Baby's 80th birthday. There are four Jellyatrics: lemon-flavoured Bill Bird, who wears a flat cap and runs a sanctuary for injured birds; raspberry-flavoured Bryan Bashful, a retired professor with a walking stick; orange-flavoured Frau Zimmer, fond of baking, and Olive Green, the fastest knitter in Jellytown.
They are not made by Trebor Bassett, who make Jelly Babies, but by Barnack UK Ltd. Their creator, Ashley Sims, 27, said he got the idea after listening to a radio show.
``It took me two days to think of the name.''
Sims described the Jellyatrics as the ``tip of the iceberg.'' He has a firm that's interested in making Jellyatric toys. ``They'd also make good characters for a television cartoon. They'd have great adventures. They'll be bigger than the Tellytubbies.''
More than seven tons of the sweets have been sold since their launch on Monday.
