Olympic Council of Ireland president Patrick Hickey is refusing to answer questions related to alleged ticket touting during last month's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, police in the city said.
Mr Hickey also did not comment as he left a Rio de Janeiro station.
Mr Hickey was jailed during the Olympic Games. He was freed last week after a judge ruled that he was not a risk to the investigation.
His passport has been confiscated, and he must remain in Brazil until the probe is concluded.
Police have said Mr Hickey plotted with businessmen to transfer tickets illegally to a non-authorised vendor that was allegedly selling them for high fees.
He has stepped aside "temporarily" as an IOC member and from all his other Olympic positions.
